Swansea’s hot dog truck is coming in off the street.

The Dog House opens a permanent counter inside the Albert Hall on Friday 16 October, from 11.30am.

It’s run by Swansea’s Alex Gower. According to the venue, he fell for the city’s street food while living in New York for several years.

The hot dog stands on almost every corner became a habit, and he came home convinced South Wales was missing something.

The menu is loaded hot dogs, fries and sides, and Swansea Albert Hall’s verdict on the portions is that the hot dogs are “huge”.

One comes buried under crispy onions, ketchup and mustard. Another is topped with pickles, spring onion and a drizzled white sauce, and a third carries sliced red chilli, sesame seeds, cucumber and spring onion.

The truck is hard to miss. It’s black, spray-painted in orange and yellow, with a cartoon vendor holding up a hot dog beside a Welsh flag.
