I’m A Celeb star Hollie Arnold’s Welsh boyfriend votes for her to do every trial

She’s starring in one of the most watched shows on TV as part of this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! line up at Wales’s Gwrych Castle.

But for Loughborough-based Paralypian Hollie Arnold MBE, it is not her first trip she has made to Wales.

That’s because she regularly visits Swansea where her boyfriend Josh Morgan lives, and she loves nothing more than a Joe’s Ice Cream.

The paralympic gold medallist, four time world champion, European champion and Commonwealth Games gold medal winner who competes in javelin, lived in Ystrad Mynach for six years, and pays many visits to Swansea to be with Josh, who himself is an athlete and paralympic star, and the national table tennis coach for Table Tennis Wales.

Josh is drumming up support for his 26-year-old girlfriend during her time in the castle, and has spoken to WalesOnline about her love for Wales and her time on the show so far.

The 29-year-old said: “We’ve been together seven years. I’m born and raised in Manselton, Swansea and Hollie regularly comes down to visit.

“She is an avid Joe’s Ice Cream fan and loves to go out and about on the beaches. Once she came down for the weekend and asked the question ‘how many Joe’s Ice Creams can I fit in in that time!’

“She likes going out to some of the restaurants like the Grill House in Waunarlwydd and I often would get her down to the football to watch the Swans games where I’m a season ticket holder.

“She’s also been to some of the concerts like Take That at the Liberty Stadium and Radio One’s Biggest Weekend at Singleton Park. She really enjoys it here.”

Josh explained how the opportunity to take part in the show arose for Hollie.

“A couple of years ago she got interviewed for Strictly (Come Dancing) but it did not come off but her name was put forward to ITV,” he said.

“They got in touch with her back in May/ June and the conversations went from there really.

“At the time we still thought she would be going to Australia and I was looking forward to my trip to the Gold Coast!

“The producers told her there would be times where she would only have 600 calories a day if they did not win stars.”

Josh said that Hollie spent two weeks in isolation on Anglesey before entering the castle, and said she had a “nervous energy”.

“It is just the unknown,” he said. “There was nerves and excitement.

“I think she is doing brilliantly so far. The trial she did with the girls, she went straight in with the offal and the fish guts and straight in with the snakes. I take my hat off to her.

“She has gone in as probably the least known celebrity and has fitted right in.

“It’s a bit surreal at times seeing her and the likes of Vernon Kay just sitting down having a chat.”

And he admitted he has been doing something his girlfriend may not thank him for.

“I have been voting for her to do the trials!” he said.

“I didn’t at first but I have since. Her parents are living in Grimsby and they are voting for her too!”
