Alleged drink driver hits parked car on road as kids walk home from school

A woman was arrested after reportedly driving into a parked vehicle on a road where young children were walking home from school.

South Wales Police arrested the 37-year-old on suspicion of drink driving following the incident on Old Road in Skewen.

Uniformed officers needed to manhandle the suspect during the arrest, who appeared to be wearing slippers.

The incident happened on the street close to Abbey Primary School, along which some pupils travel home.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “Emergency services attended Old Road, Skewen at around 3.40pm on September 7 after reports of a road traffic collision.

“It was reported that a car collided with a parked vehicle. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving”.

The spokesman added the woman has now been charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the alcohol limit and will appear in Swansea Magistrates’ Court later this month.
